Georgia a must-visit destination for travel enthusiasts
Niderland [ENA] Georgia is a country with an ancient history. In this article, I will provide a brief overview of Georgia's history and focus more on its tourism opportunities. I have traveled to this country multiple times, seen its ancient monuments, tasted its national cuisine, and enjoyed its wines. Despite the passage of years, the taste of Georgian cuisine, as they say, is still fresh in my memory.
Brief information Georgia is one of the three republics in the Caucasus region. The capital city is Tbilisi. The country's history dates back to ancient times, extending to the kingdoms of Colchis and Iberia. The national currency is the lari, currently equal to 0.34 euros. During the summer, the time difference is two hours, with Georgia being ahead of Europe in time. Public transportation is not expensive, especially for European tourists. Hotel prices are also reasonable. European citizens do not need a visa to enter this country; a stamp indicating entry is placed in your passport at the airport, allowing you to enter the country.
Georgians have their own alphabet, and most of the signage in the country is written in this script, so this might present some difficulties. History I won’t write extensively on this topic, as I mentioned earlier, the country's history is ancient. Georgians call their country "Sakartvelo" because the Kartvelian people used to live in the territory of present-day Georgia. Is there a connection between Georgia and Spain? I don't know. However, in ancient times, both Georgia and Spain were referred to as Iberia. Over time, Georgia was invaded by various states and incorporated into different empires.
For example, the ancient Azerbaijani state of Safavid Persia, the Ottoman Empire, and Russia have all attacked and annexed this country at different times. Georgia has often been the cultural center of the Caucasus. It is no coincidence that during the Tsarist Russian era, the Caucasus Viceroyalty was based in Tbilisi, from where Georgia and Azerbaijan were governed. Finally, during the war in 2008, Russia occupied a part of Georgia, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia. South Ossetia and Abkhazia declared their independence, and Russia recognized them as independent countries. However, in all international documents, these territories are recognized as part of Georgia.
Popular Cities Tbilisi and Batumi are among the cities that attract the most tourists. However, many other cities in this country could also be of interest for tourism, such as Kutaisi, Borjomi, etc. The latter is famous for its water, Borjomi water. In Tbilisi, you can see many ancient monuments; the city is rich in historical landmarks. The city is mainly divided into two parts, new and old Tbilisi, both of which have their unique charm. Old Tbilisi is full of historical monuments. I have visited this city many times, and each time, it has felt like a fairytale to me. According to historical sources, this city was founded in the 5th century.
Until 1936, the city's name was Tiflis. The Kura River runs through the city center. The city has many hilly areas. I can confidently say that anyone who visits will remember this city for a lifetime and may attempt to return a second, third, or even more times. Another city that attracts many tourists is Batumi, located on the shores of the Black Sea. In this city, various nationalities live together. Those who love to relax by the sea can easily come to this city and enjoy their time here. Prices are quite reasonable, both in hotels and restaurants. Public transportation is not expensive either. If you wish, you can even rent a bicycle and tour the city. One of the most attractive monuments in the city is the famous Ali and Nino statue.
People and Cuisine Georgians are warm-hearted. You can ask anyone for help, and they will surely assist you. However, it would be good to start your conversation in Georgian and greet the locals with "Gamarjoba," and I can guarantee you will be helped. While in this country, don't forget to try Georgian cuisine, along with Georgian wine, of course. Georgian wine is very delicious, and those who visit this country without tasting the wine miss out on a lot. Georgian cuisine is also rich. My favorite dishes are khachapuri and Georgian khinkali. Of course, you can try other dishes, but don't forget to taste these two when you visit.

I will wait, and I thank you in advance if you choose to share your thoughts. Vugar Abbasov Netherlands.
